A Greenhithe member Linda is currently reading a Miriam Gargoyles biography. In her book ‘This Much is True’, Miriam mentions her memories of the Women’s League of Health and Beauty.

Women’s League of Health and Beauty has been represented in popular historical TV shows, such as Call the Midwife. We have quite the history. We all know the concept on 6 degrees of separation, well this couldn’t be truer when it comes to our history, as made evident in Miriam’s memories of her mother being part of the Mary Baggot Stacks exercise classes.   Along with all this history is the journey of our name as it has changed from Women’s League of Health and Beauty to The Fitness League to FLexercise, as we know it today.

As the Uk celebrate more than 90 years, we in NZ celebrate 85 years this October 2022.  What fantastic memories, milestones and history we have, and we are still going strong.
