2025 End of Year Classes & Christmas Lunches

December 30, 2025 By Val

Katikati & Tauranga

Katikati & Tauranga’s last day went well. We started off with exercise to music for the first 40 minutes, then we played a game of pass the parcel in circles of approx 10 members with 4 gifts handed out around the circle, then I read a story out about Santa and his lost sack with lots of Rights & Lefts in it. It was interesting to see how many still don’t know their left from their right. It was hilarious and a lot of fun.

After we had our Secret Santa, each member brought a wrapped gift, up to the value of $15. Once their gift was handed over to reception their name was put in the draw.   My receptionists & I drew out the names and eventually all the gifts were gone.

I then gave a gift to the best attendee, a Katikati member who had only missed one class all year. What a great achievement!

Afterwards we sat down to a delicious lunch together sitting at beautifully decorated tables, I was also blessed with Farmers gift cards & a gift basket from Katikati members & a prezzy card from Tauranga.

Thank you, I guess I’ll be going shopping over the holidays.

Have a happy holidays to you all & enjoy any time off you have.

Howick Centre & Pakuranga Park Village

We always seem to have too much fun at our Christmas Lunches and forget to take a group lunch photos.

We finished on Friday 19th, Howick and Pakuranga members captured (semi) in action.

Eagled eyed may spot Jill B in Pakuranga class.

Wishing you all a great festive season.

Howick Evening & Waiheke

FESTIVE FUN on the Island & the Mainland

Our Howick Evening Xmas Class on the 2nd Dec & our Waiheke Island Xmas Class on the 4th Dec.

Everyone enjoyed exercising to Xmas music followed by lots of laughs playing festive games as you will see in the photos.

An addition this year was “Pass the Parcel – FLexercise style!!” In between each wrap was an instruction for the group to perform a move… Sit to stand, sway & overhead, V Step etc until the music stopped. Big smiles from the winners 😃

The lyrics of our cool down song were very much a Kiwi Xmas – summer, beach, bbq’s – gentle swings & sways with our beach towels helped cool us off!!

Waiheke

Our Waiheke group celebrated at the Red Crab, Oneroa with lunch after class on the 4th Dec. A beautiful spot overlooking Oneroa Bay.

Howick Evening

Our Howick group celebrated Xmas with lunch together on the 6th Dec  at Mr Henry in Patumahoe with our lovely class member Fran who has relocated to the village.

Then it was Daisy Changs in Howick on the 9th Dec with those unable to make the 6th.
Great fun on both occasions.

Wishing you a lovely holiday

Silverdale-Tues, Greenhithe, Hobsonville,
Murray’s Bay & Warkworth.

Sonia’s end of year classes, all having fun using the long ribbon in a variety of ways and patterns. All classes enjoyed brunches/lunches to follow, and all looking forward to FLexercise classes 2026.

Pukekohe Christmas Social

Once again the Pukekohe Christmas Social was held the day after classes had finished in a Village hall which is ideal for the occasion. At this time of year no day is going to suit everyone!  However, many did come along and bring some very tasty plates.
Included in this photo are Gae Rundle who has been attending regularly since I opened the centre in March 1987.  Also Caryl Chappell who is the sister of the late Jan Quadling, teacher, who opened the Waiheke centre. Together with their mother Olive Nicholson, Caryl and Jan were among a group of teenagers attending Kay Rhodes class in the City in the early 60’s, and Olive continued to come when I first arrived here in 1966.
We had a very enjoyable morning.
Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year
Nina

Sunnynook, Te Atatu & Remuera
Christmas Celebrations

This year it was decided by all my members, that once again to celebrate our Christmas break-up , we would hold our celebration in the hall after class, with food/nibbles. In this way we could all socialise in a much more relaxed manner than in a restaurant. So after each class, we held our Christmas celebration.

First of all, Sunnynook class on 5th December with members celebrating. This year it was a bit of a squeeze as we were in the small hall, as the main hall floor and electrics were still being fixed. It did make it a close encounter.
Sunnynook it was decided to buy various food items, to take some of the pressure off members. Wonderful food was bought, the usual sausage rolls, small dainty quiche and mince pies. Various cheese items and courtesy of some members sandwiches and sweets.
A wonderful feast to celebrate Christmas.

Remuera had their celebration Tuesday 9th December and a very full busy class. Lots of laughs and enjoyment. Again we were spoilt by all the wonderful food produced by various members. Such delights and of course really, we should have exercised again after all the food! To those Remuera members my very grateful thanks.

Next Te Atatu on Wednesday 10th December, again with lots of members being present. Unfortunately, 4 of Te Atatu members were unable to come due to health difficulties, but hopefully they will be fit and well in the New Year.
It all worked out extremely well and lots of enjoyment. Wonderful food that all the different members bought for us all to sample. Again, really needed exercise after the food, not before.

My thanks to all my class members, for all the support and help they have given throughout the year.

Here’s to 2026.

Glenfield (Tues), Silverdale & Whangaparaoa

Glenfield

This is our final class at Glenfield Tuesday class.
We all went for a lovely lunch at the May Restaurant in Greville Road.

A great way to end a fabulous year.

Silverdale

Our Silverdale end of year was full of fun, thanks and raffles.

A huge thank you to Gloria, who has looked after the members on reception for the last 25 years, an amazing dedication.

Thank you to Carol and Heather who are now in charge of welcoming the members to class.

My thanks also go to all the members for the gifts they have given me.

Whangaparaoa

Our Whangaparaoa last class for the year we said a huge thank you for all the raffles Linda makes for us and all the Christmas presents she wraps for our Christmas Luncheon and a photo of Lesley winning one of the raffles.

We are grateful for Doug, Ian and Noel, these guys carry all the weights into class and sort all the chairs for Carol, who takes the chairs for me. They do exercise with us at the back of the class and we love having them in class with us.

We also gave thanks to Carol Williams the amazing lady who does all the sorting of the raffles and celebrated Linda Wells who has been a member for 12 years.

The photo below is Carol and Heather who are part of my wonderful receptionist team.

Thank you for the voucher the members gave me. I will enjoy shopping during the holidays.

Have a wonderful New Year celebration. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2026.

Helensville

The photos below are of Christine’s last class in Helensville as she will be moving down to Tauranga to start a new phase of her life.

Christine delivered a great Christmas class with a little help from her friends and teachers.  Trish was with us to wish Christine all the best for her next adventure

What a lovely group of ladies in the Helensville class.

Christines members presented her with a gift to mark a wonderful friendship that everyone has had with class on a Friday morning followed by coffee and cakes at the Railway Cafe.

Val presented Christine with a voucher and a plant from all the teachers to mark her many years of teaching and building a great class in Helensville.

We all wish Christine a healthy happy future in her new home.
