For the Love of Waiheke & the Oneroa FLexercise Class

August 11, 2026 By Jeanine Saunders

It has been my great pleasure to continue the Thursday class for just over 2 years following the retirement of the great stalwart and much loved island local Rosemary McKenzie.

I could not have done this without my well used AT Super Gold Hop Card & Sealink Ferries, the willing members picking me up and dropping me off at the ferry terminal, the support of the Red Cross Hall Oneroa and most importantly the ladies attending class.

Sadly though “all good things must come to an end” & I had to acknowledge the many factors contributing to a decline in numbers and to bring the class to a close.

However we will be keeping in touch as seen in the lunch photo from early July displaying below.

Bye for now & keep up the good work in your fitness journey!!

Jeanine

Here are some messages from the class:

“When Rosemary retired we were devastated & could not imagine that FLexercise would survive on the island but Jeanine took up the challenge & breathed new life back into the class.”

“I was thrilled to see RNZ’s 100 most popular songs included Poi E. We loved the routine you created Jeanine & it was impossible to hear Poi E on the radio without smiling.”

“It was such a shame to those of us on Waiheke who were “Jeanine regulars”, that our small class was not able to continue. We appreciated Jeanine’s energy, the music, the routines, the positive input, and her dedication and effort in taking the Sealink ferry in order to conduct the class – as well as the social gatherings outside of the regular classes. We are the poorer for our loss.”

Thank you from the Oneroa Ladies
