Teacher: Beryl Davy
I became a member with WLHB in the early 70s at Kay’s Mt Roskill Centre. My mother took me along ‘to do something active’, she soon stopped going to class and The League became an important part of my life.
In 1998, I qualified as a teacher and in 1999 took over the Manurewa Centre. In 2008 I took over the St. Andrews, Howick and St. Marks, Pakuranga classes as well. Though the classwork is important and beneficial, the many lasting friendships made over the years, is the icing on the cake.
Highlights include the big celebrations both here and overseas, Eire in 1999, UK Royal Albert Hall in 2000, 2005 and 2010. Auckland in 2007, 2012 and 2017 and the smaller get-togethers when we all work in unison sharing teaching and ideas.
Previously an histology technician, I have retrained as a massage therapist including aromatherapy, a practice that meshes well with the holistic basis of the Bagot Stack system.
Recently working in retail and Admin, I found my classes balance the long hours spent on my feet or sitting at work.
Now retired, I am continuing with the classes as they are an important part of my and the member's lives. We all enjoy being together.
